Piping Journeyman

Crawford Services in Grand Prairie is looking for a Piping Journeyman to join our team. Primary Job Function: Assist the Construction Installation Officer (CIO) to design piping bids and scope of work required for piping projects. Provide take off and layout assistance to the Senior Design Engineer for warded jobs to Crawford Services. Provide the Supervision and installation practices to complete piping projects for the company.

Job Requirements:

  • Assist CIO to evaluate upcoming piping projects in developing a bid and subsequent scope of work.
  • Assist SDE on takeoff and pipe drawings for awarded projects.
  • Make material lists and procures piping materials as required.
  • Oversee the loading and unloading of materials and equipment
  • Construction on site Pre-walk-through with builder, SPM and SDE before the job begins to understand job design and installation requirements
  • Layout the work, including materials and labor at the job sight.
  • Hold a job talk meeting each morning before starting work (5 min)
    1. Review previous day's work
    2. Cover items to accomplish that day
    3. Talk about job safety
  • Communicate back to the SFPM on any design changes required before making the change in the field
  • Oversee the job, including overseeing all helpers and subs that are assigned to the job. This is a working supervisory role.
  •  Complete and email daily progress reports to the Purchase and Install Coordinator.
  •  Manage all labor requirements including communicating daily times and future labor needs to the SFPM
  •  Perform job handoff to the Super on the job if moving to another job before completion
  • Correct any issues that Quality Control finds that need addressing
  • Oversee cleaning up the jobsite
  •  Oversee returning excess material upon job completion as directed by the overall   project superintendent.

Job Requirements:

  • Must possess good communication skills including written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to handle a variety of tasks.
  • Knowledge of customer service principles and practices with internal and external customers .
  • Regular and punctual attendance. Ability to work overtime if needed (and approved)
  • Mechanical aptitude
  • EPA certification (at least type 1 and 2)
  • Must have valid driver's license
  • Able to successfully pass a background check and drug test
  • Must be able to work on ladders (up to 40') and rooftops
  •   Must have required tools (per tool list)

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to see well enough to read reports, data, schematics and drawings.
  • Must be able to hear well enough to communicate on the telephone and in person.
  • Must be able to use your fingers for grasping, feeling.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, and lift to 100 pounds and reach. Will be required to carry, lift, push, or pull.
  • Must be able to climb stairs, ladders, and be able to crawl on hands and knees for at least 30 feet.

Experience:

  • 5 years of experience working in technical role or similar job role preferred Work Hours: Flexible scheduling; Day shift, Monday through Friday, some 7am - 4pm, some days from 10am to 8pm, flexibility as needed

Pay Scale: $20-$30/hr
